STUPID FUCKING BIRD – Theatre @ Boston Court

Stupid Fucking Bird - Theatre @ Boston CourtJune 19 – July 27, 2014
by Aaron Posner, directed by Michael Michetti

A Co-production with Circle X Theatre Co.
sort of adapted from “The Seagull” by Anton Chekhov

NOMINATED FOR THE 2014 OVATION AWARD FOR BEST PRODUCTION OF A PLAY (INTIMATE THEATRE)!

In this irreverent remix of Chekhov’s The Seagull, an aspiring young director rails against art created by his mother’s generation, a nubile young actress wrestles with an aging Hollywood star for the affections of a renowned novelist, and everyone discovers just how disappointing life, art, and growing up can be. Chekhov’s characters still ruminate on love, revolution and the pursuit of happiness, but this time with a lot more snark as the subtext bubbles to the surface. With music, meta-theatricality, and mad humor, playwright Aaron Posner beats The Seagull to a bloody fucking pulp.

ALCESTIS – Theatre @ Boston Court

June 20 – July 28, 2013

Written & Directed by Nancy Keystone
Created in Collaboration with Critical Mass Performance Group

Nancy Keystone’s ALCESTIS is a visceral exploration of the literal life-and-death struggle of a woman who volunteers to die to save her husband’s life, and the deals people make the with the gods to avert the death decree. Hilarious, heartbreaking, highly stylized and physical as only Keystone and Critical Mass can be, this piece freshly investigates the nature of sacrifice, death, and the overpowering will to live.
